Outkast’s Andre 3000 is to star as Jimi Hendrix in a new biopic about the late, legendary guitarist’s life, report the Irish Film & Television Network. What with 3000’s flamboyant, brightly coloured dress-sense and larger-than-life stage persona, the choice feels rather appropriate.
The film, entitled All Is By My Side, will be directed by John Ridley and is set to begin filming in Ireland later this month. IFTN report that it is to span Hendrix’s time in England during the period of 1966-67, when he was discovered in New York by Keith Richards’ girlfriend at the time Linda Keith and was flown to London, where he worked on debut album Are You Experienced?
All Is By My Side is currently in pre-production in County Wicklow, and will shooting is due to begin in six weeks in Wicklow and Dublin.
