The fourth edition of Portugal’s Amplifest is fast approaching and packs a mighty, mighty line-up. Heading up the bill are Swans, stopping by Porto as part of their extensive European tour, joined by fellow wielders of sheer heaviness Ben Frost, Pharmakon, Yob and Conan, alongside sets from fre-jazz luminaries Peter Brötzmann & Steve Noble, singer-songwriter Marissa Nadler and Alhousseini Anivolla, the Tuareg blues guitarist. As well as the music programme, there’ll also be a screening of Lone, Mark Pellington’s "cinematic counterpart" to Chelsea Wolfe’s album Pain Is Beauty – watch a teaser trailer below.
