Alva Noto Shares The Cure Cover

The NOTON label boss has put his own take on the band's 1980 track 'A Forest'

Alva Noto has released a beatless cover of The Cure’s ‘A Forest’, which you can hear above.

The track originally featured on the band’s second album, Seventeen Seconds, with 2020 marking 40 years since its release. Alva Noto’s cover comes in at 10 minutes long and also has Robert Smith’s seal of approval. It’s available now as a digital download as well as on vinyl.

"I was 15 years old when the song was released," Alva Noto says. "At the time my desire for good music started to grow, and, of course, I would look for sounds that reflected the time and age I was living. ‘A Forest’ is now a classic, and I can’t think of another song which could be more representative of the band than this single – 40 years after its release, I still bow to it and feel grateful that it exists."
