Murcof & Byetone For Alpha-ville

One day event in Hackney on 6th October features film screenings and live electronic performances

The 2012 edition of Alpha-ville, a one day event focusing on art, creative technology, music and internet culture, is set to take place in London on Saturday 6th October.

Chief among its events is Alpha-ville LIVE, which looks set to be quite the evening, and features live performances from Mexican electronic composer Murcof alongside AntiVJ on visuals, a full audiovisual show from Raster-Noton co-head Byetone (pictured, top), and a solo show by The Field.

Murcof’s performance with AntiVJ’s Simon Geilfus will find the two working their usual blurring of the boundaries between sonic and visual. "Using semi-transparent and panoramic screens," says the press release, "their audiovisual show creates an immersive experience in which the projected microscopic particles, geometric grids and organic elements, mutate the surrounding environment." Alpha-ville LIVE takes place at the Hackney Empire from 7pm. Tickets range from £17.50 to £30, and are available from the Alpha-ville website. After the event there will be a party at Dalston’s Visions Video Bar, with DJs to be announced.

Earlier in the day, Alpha-ville’s other events, under the title SCREENING, will be taking place at the Hackney Picturehouse. The first is the Future Of Moving Image Programme & Award, at 2pm, where the films shortlisted for the award will be screened and attendees will be able to vote for the audience award. There will also be a judging panel present for the full award.

Then at 4:15pm, the Picturehouse will host Unfinity, "an eclectic programme of moving image works, featuring talents from different genres including animation, experimental, documentary, music video and CGI." It features three films: Rear Window Timelapse (Jeff Desom, 2012), Slow Derek (Dan Ojari, 2011) and Everything Is A Remix Part 4: System Failure (Kirby Ferguson, 2012).
