All We Are took home the GIT Award 2015 at a ceremony at Liverpool’s Kazimier Club last week. The prize, designed to celebrate the best new music on Merseyside, was founded by local blog Getintothis and was judged by a panel including The Quietus’ own John Doran. The band were selected from a shortlist of 12 which included Circa Waves, D R O H N E, Gulf, Hooton Tennis Club, Roxanne Jones, Låpsley, Esa Shields, Sundowners, Xam Volo, Jane Weaver and We Are Catchers.
All We Are could not collect their award as they are currently supporting The Vaccines on their sold out UK tour. The threesome, made up of a Norwegian, Brazilian and Irishman, lost out to Forest Swords for the award in 2014, telling the Quietus that it was lovely to be a part of the awards ceremony.
Other artists rewarded at the ceremony included One To Watch winner Louis Berry, who performed his track ‘.45’ at the ceremony. The Inspiration Award for services to music in the city went to Deltasonic founder Alan Wills, who passed away last year. In memory of the label head Dave McCabe and Ian Skelley played The Zutons’ ‘Why Won’t You Give Me Your Love?’ while James Skelley and Bill Ryder-Jones of The Coral reunited for a performance of ‘Shadows Fall’.
The evening was hosted by improvisational comedy group Impropriety and saw renditions from many of the nominated acts before a closing performance by Brazuca drummers.
The Kazimier Club recently announced that it would be closing on New Year’s Day as part of the redevelopment of the surrounding area.
