All-Female Festival Heroines Of Sound Returns For 2022

The Berlin event will host Norma Beecroft and more next month

Berlin festival Heroines Of Sound will return for its ninth edition next month.

Presenting, as ever, an all-female lineup of artists working across the electronic and experimental music field, the festival will take in live concerts as well as a series of talks and panels. Among those scheduled to perform live are sound engineer Norma Beecroft, presenting Elegy And Two Went To Sleep; multi-media artist Marcelle Deschênes, presenting Le bruit des ailes; and classical composer Ann Southam, performing Boat, River, Moon.

Other music programme highlights include a series of specially commissioned Minimoog-based performances by Kirstine Lindemann, Dorit Chrysler and Svetlana Maraš; the debut of new work by Georgian-Norwegian composer and visual artist Mariam Gviniashvili (pictured above); and a performance by composers collective Retama from Peru.

Talks and panels will look at topics such as the war in Ukraine, repression, breaking down gender barriers, and electronic music in Peru.

Heroines Of Sound will take place from July 7 to 9, 2022. Find more information here.
