Sacred Bones To Release Lost Alan Vega Album

'Mutator' is the first in a series of archival releases from the late Suicide frontman's vaults of unreleased material

A previously unreleased album recorded by Alan Vega and his wife and longtime collaborator Liz Lamere is to be released by Sacred Bones.

Titled Mutator, the album, which was recorded in New York from 1995 to 1996, was discovered among the late Suicide frontman’s archives of recorded material in 2019 by both Lamere and his close friend Jared Artaud. It’s part of a wealth of unheard and unreleased material that Vega worked on up until his death in 2016, with Sacred Bones lining up a series of archival releases featuring material discovered in what’s come to be known as the ‘Vega Vault’.

Lead track ‘Nike Solider’ can be listened to above. Speaking about the track, Jared Artaud says: "Working on this album, I was blown away by the sheer intensity and raw power of Alan’s ability to transform sound and deliver inimitable one-take vocal performances. ‘Nike Soldier’ is a supreme example of Alan’s unparalleled instincts."

Sacred Bones will release Mutator on April 23, 2021.
