Alan Moore & Iain Sinclair For English Journey Re-Imagined

Event at the Barbican this Autumn. Alan Moore portrait by Dave Ma

JB Priestley’s An English Journey, published in 1934, is a colourful and considered document of a country in decline, and with the mass destruction and horrors of the Second World War sat grimly just out of view around the corner. Following successful events at Aldeburgh, writers Iain Sinclair and Alan Moore, musicians FM Einheit, Shirley Collins, Simon Fisher Turner and Susan Stenger will present "a 21st Century happening" inspired by Priestley’s work. It takes place on Saturday 22 October 2011.

Say the Barbican, "The show features highlights from sold out events at Aldeburgh Music in Suffolk and the AV Festival in Newcastle exploring the culture and history of these unique English places. The second half will be a new London-centric summoning under the influence of Sinclair’s latest book, Ghost Milk: Calling Time On The Grand Project, as Sinclair brings his unique eye to bear on the Lea Valley area and the Olympics as well as on to the Barbican itself." We will be there, so should you be. For more information, please visit the Barbican website.
