PREMIERE: Alabaster DePlume’s ‘What’s Missing’

'What's Missing' features on his superb upcoming LP

London-based bandleader and Total Refreshment Centre resident Alabaster dePlume is to release his new LP To Cy & Lee: Instrumentals Vol. 1 on February 28.

Ahead of the record’s release, tQ can exclusively reveal the video for ‘What’s Missing’, which appears on the LP. Directed by Daisy Dickinson, it features words from the final speech of Chilean President Salvador Allende in 973.

To Cy & Lee will be dePlume’s first album for Chicago label International Anthem. It combines instrumentals dating from his previous releases with new compositions made with a band containing Sarathy Korwar, Chestnutt of Snapped Ankles and more. The album draws on Japanese Min’yo folk, Celtic folk, Arthur Russell and the Ethio jazz of DePlume’s fellow saxophonist Getatchew Mekurya, as well as computer games and Japanese animation.

To Cy & Lee: Instrumentals Vol. 1 is out on February 28.
