Akiko Yano Album To Be Reissued

A 1981 album by Akiko Yano, co-produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto, is to be reissued

Reissue label WeWantSounds will next repress a cult album by Japanese musician Akiko Yano.

Dating back to 1981, Tadaima was co-produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto, and features all three members of Yellow Magic Orchestra, with their synth-pop influence running throughout the record. Above, you can hear the album’s title track.

Other figures involved in the making and presentation of the original record included Studio Ghibli copywriter Shigesato Itoi and manga artist Teruhiko Yumura, otherwise known as King Terry, whose artwork adorned the original cover.

WeWantSounds’ reissue will come with original obi strip artwork, liner notes and an introduction to the record written by French producer Joakim. It will be available in November and the label will follow its release with further reissue of Akiko Yano’s record, namely Japanese Girls and Iroha Ni Konpeitou.
