Billy Bragg To Be Honoured By AIM

Veteran singer-songwriter to receive Outstanding Contribution To Music Award

This year’s AIM Independent Music Awards 2013 have announced that they’ll be honouring Billy Bragg with their Outstanding Contribution To Music Award in association with eMusic, joining the previously-announced award-winner Geoff Travis of Rough Trade, who’s getting the Pioneer Award.

Says Bragg of the award: "I was inspired by punk rock, not just by the music but by the DIY ethos that drove the scene. Over the years I’ve held onto that spirit by working with labels whose commitment to independence has offered me greater control of my output. Therefore, to be recognised by AIM as an artist who has made an outstanding contribution to music is a great honour."

The awards ceremony will be held on September 3 at The Brewery in Clerkenwell, London, with tQ’s Luke Turner once again taking up position on the judging panel.
