Warp & 6 Music Among AIM Awards Winners

Winners for this year's awards announced in London last night

Warp and BBC 6 Music’s Gilles Peterson and Steve Lamacq, were among the winners at last night’s AIM Independent Music Awards.

Warp, whose output this year has included releases from Boards Of Canada, Broadcast and Autechre, took home the Independent Label of the Year award, while Peterson and Lamacq were given the Indie Champion Award and Special Recognition Awards respectively. Kent two-dayer In The Woods took the Golden Welly Award for best independent festival, while Oxford imprint Alcopop! Records were awarded Best Small Label. All joined the previously announced Billy Bragg, given the Outstanding Contribution to Music honour, and Rough Trade’s Geoff Travis, who was given the Pioneer Award, from a judging panel including tQ’s Luke Turner.

Golden Welly Award: In The Woods

Special Recognition Award: Steve Lamacq – BBC 6 Music

Outstanding Contribution to Music: Billy Bragg
