Aidan Moffat has announced that he’ll be making a road trip around Scotland to celebrate its musical and storytelling heritage. Taking the lead from ceilidh gatherings, the trip, Where You’re Meant To Be, will see Moffat performing new material inspired by traditions, from "folk sagas to drinking songs, from bawdy ballads to bruised laments", at free concerts across the country, stopping by Glasgow Barrowland, Loch Ness and the Faslane Peace Camp and elsewhere. He’s set to be joined by a host of guests, including Geordie Murison, Joe Aitken, Wounded Knee and Sheila Stewart, alongside local musicians and storytellers, as well as his band for the journey, comprising James Graham of The Twilight Sad, Bdy_Prts’ Jenny Reeve and Stevie Jones.
The whole trip is part of Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Cultural Programme, and will be filmed by Paul Fegan for a documentary, set to premiere after the close of the games in August.
