It’s tagged "alternative haplessly romantic indie miserable moany christmas songs whingecore Glasgow" on Bandcamp – yes, Aidan Moffat has released a set of Christmas songs today. And in a world where simpering twerps She & Him (whoever the fuck they are) and Scott Weiland are releasing (respectively) twee indie dross and ill-advised croons, this is to be welcomed. You can listen to Aidan’s Oh! What A Not So Silent Night Before Christmas over on Bandcamp here. It features a reworking of ‘Oh What A Night’ into the traditional ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas’ that imagines the arrival of a pissed Santa, a synthy version of ‘Last Christmas’, and ‘(A Not So Silent) Night Before Christmas’, which is the first track but a version done spoken word and creepy. Speaking of creepy, check out the cover art below, which looks like a thirsty Aidan has had an argument with a Christmas tree.
