The Afghan Whigs have announced the release of a 20th anniversary edition of their classic album Black Love.
It has been specially remastered for the reissue, while the release will also carry nine previously unreleased demos, outtakes and studio jams from the album sessions. It will be available in a triple-vinyl and double-CD edition.
The album was the band’s fifth overall and came off the back of the widespread success of previous album Gentlemen. Black Love was inspired by Greg Dulli’s want to make a film noir movie, which was never eventually made. Amongst the outtakes featured on the new release are acoustic versions of album tracks ‘Going To Town’ and ‘Crime Scene Part Two’ as well as a piano cover of New Order’s ‘Regret’.
The band is currently in the studio working on their eighth studio album which is scheduled for release next year by Sub Pop. Mute will release the 20th anniversary edition of Black Love on November 25.
