ADULT. have announced details of a new album entitled Detroit House Guests which will see them collaborate with a number of other musicians. You can check out ‘They’re Just Words’, taken from the album, which features Douglas J McCarthy, above.
The project was originally conceived by the pair over a decade ago but finally became a reality in 2014 after they received a John S. and James L.Knight Foundation grant. They invited a number of musicians to work with them for a three-week period working to the rule that each artist had to live, work and collaborate with them throughout that time.
Among the collaborators are Nitzer Ebb’s Douglas J McCarthy, Michael Gira, Shannon Funchess from Light Asylum, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe aka Lichens and more. Detroit House Guests marks ADULT.’s first album release on Mute following on from releases with Thrill Jockey and other labels across six previous albums. The album is out on March 17.
