The return of Supernormal Festival this summer should be enough cause for excitement, particularly given the confirmation of <a href=" http://thequietus.com/articles/17303-spectres-interview” target="out">Spectres, Jennifer Walshe, and Trash Kit amongst the wealth of excellent underground acts already on the line-up.
Now there’s more, though. Dream pop icons A.R.Kane, dormant for more than two decades, have been added to the bill, albeit with a slightly modified name and personnel. It’s an announcement as bizarre and wonderful as we’ve come to expect from Supernormal, with Rudy Tambala, one half of the original duo, heading up an act known for the time being as #A.R.Kane. The group, Tambala says, comprises “… a couple of original A.R.Kane players … and two millennial upstarts of extreme beauty and talent…”
The announcement by no means rules out the involvement of original member Alex Ayuli, either. The addition of a hashtag to the band’s name, Tambala explains, was borne out of the need for something “that contemporises the band, was a tad ironic, and flatly stated that this line-up is sans Alex. Should Alex come out-to-play, we can easily drop the ‘#’, so to speak.”
What we know for certain is that Supernormal will run from August 7-9 at Brazier’s Park in Oxfordshire and will likely be another glorious celebration of left-field brilliance. Tickets are £80 for adults and £30 for teens and are available from the festival’s website.
