Returning for its third year, 24-Hour Drone will take place in New York’s Basilica Hudson performance space from April 29-30 and this year’s line-up for the event includes acts such as Phurpa, Ben Shemie, Shilpa Ray, Onatan Gat, Matt Ostrowski, IIVII and Vision Control to name but a few.
Started in 2014 in Utrecht, The Netherlands by Basilica’s founders Melissa Auf der Maur and Tony Stone, and founder of Dutch festival Le Guess Who? Bob van Heur, 24-Hour Drone provides exactly as its title suggests.
A celebration of experimental, droning vocal and instrumental music, the event seeks to "break down barriers across borders, offering an opportunity to connect diverse musical communities and traditions, offering a localized snapshot of Drone within the larger context of universal sound."
"We aim to bring cultures together, demonstrating the diversity inherently present within all music. The cross-pollination of instrumentation, musical traditions and culture creates a tapestry of human experience, elevating the whole, greater than the sum of its parts."
