After launching the new streaming service on June 30, and despite receiving a fairly large amount of complaints ahead of the launch, Apple Music have claimed that they currently have 11 million trial subscribers.
The service is offered to users for free for the first 3 months of signing up. Users will then have to pay $9.99 per month for access, or $14.99 for the app’s imposed family plan, which has already been opted for by 2 million uses, according to statistics as USA Today report.
Apple’s Internet Services spokesperson Eddy Cue told USA Today that they were “thrilled with the numbers so far”. He went on to address the issue of the streaming service’s backlash by saying: “We’re aware that some users have experienced some issues, and we hate letting them down, but we’re releasing updates as fast as we can to address those issues”.
If all of the people currently signed up to the new service become paying customers in October then Apple Music would already have half the amount of paying customers that Spotify currently have. Apple have taken some big hits in revenue of late though. The figures for their stock sales show a 14% drop since April, and this in turn has cost the company almost $115 million in value. One of Apple Music’s biggest selling points since its launch has been its in-house Beats 1 radio station which has seen guest shows over the last month from St. Vincent, Drake and many more.
