Crowdfund Launched For London Record Shop & Dubplate Studio

Disc World, if successfully crowdfunded, will set up shop in south east London

Chris Royle and Lewis Joyce, the duo behind online dubplate-cutting service 1-800-DUBPLATE, have launched a Kickstarter campaign to crowdfund a new record shop in south east London called Disc World.

The pair have set a target of £12,500 for the campaign and are offering a number of rewards in exchange for donations. At the time of writing, they’ve raised just over half of their target with almost four weeks left before the campaign’s end.

Royle and Joyce are hoping to open the record shop, which will also come with an in-house dubplate-cutting service, in Deptford, and say that the stock will specialise is "underground dance music," though they stress that it will not be limited to that genre.
