8. Captain BeefheartThe Spotlight Kid

I’m pretty sure that was the first record of his that I heard, that’s the one I know the best to this day anyway. I can remember reading the review of it in Rolling Stone and thinking, “This sounds good, I should hear this guy!” I’d probably already heard him but ‘I’m Gonna Booglarize You’ just got to me instantly and to this day, ‘Click Clack’ and ‘Alice in Blunderland’ are real favourites. I don’t know why, because I love all his records, but I think because that was the first one it just stayed a sentimental favourite.
