Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

7. Kyle KiddSoothsayer

I became familiar with Kyle Kidd from Mourning [A] BLKstar, touring with them and just being a massive fan of that group. When I found out they had a solo record coming out, it was the greatest gift. More Kyle. Front and centre. I love the production on that record, but particularly this song. There’s something timeless with this song. It’s a little bit ambiguous. Very forward and modern. They ended up singing backing vocals on ‘So Typically Now’. This is actually a reason why liner notes are so valuable. Think of all the great musicians that end up on records you like. You might not know they have their own music if you don’t do the digging.
