Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

2. Dylan HennerThe Invention Of The Human

You know the character in The Third Policeman who rides the bicycle so much he becomes part bicycle? I feel like I’ve listened to this so much that it’s become part of me. I’m trying to avoid saying it’s my favourite record ever, but it very possibly is. It just it talks to me in some sort of magical way, and I guess it seems more fitting now than ever, the idea of an AI making this song and singing the lyrics, which is a terrifying dystopian idea, but there’s also something magical and unbelievably beautiful about it. It’s kind of a gorgeous haunting thing, this album. I’ve got multiple copies of it because I fear that one day, I might lose it. Like some people have Bibles in drawers, I have The Invention Of The Human.
