Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

1. Jean Grae & Quelle ChrisEverything’s Fine

Since hearing the Beastie Boys, and probably De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest, I’ve always been interested when a great hip-hop record comes along. I saw someone’d posted it on Facebook, so I looked for a video, and it was the track ‘Gold Purple Orange’. I thought the lyrics were amazing – they were rapping about Depeche Mode and Big Audio Dynamite!

[Puts on unconvincing voice] Everything’s fiiiiiiiinnnneeee – I love that re-occuring motif. It’s a good one for right now.
