Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

4.

Tool – Lateralus

A lot of people tend to go for Aenima more than this, but what appealed to me about this album over any of their others is the sound design and the production. It felt a lot more proggy and they were into more long form songs, and that kind of prog metal really appealed to me at the time. At that time I’d just been listening to Korn and Deftones, so to me this was something that I thought was radically different.

Selected in other Baker’s Dozens: Lord Spikeheart, Tom Ravenscroft
