Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

1. Big Star#1 Record

This record perfectly captures what it’s like to grow up in the south. Equal parts youthful hope equal parts isolation. I’ve got, "At my side is God", from ‘The Ballad Of El Goodo’ tattooed on my thigh so I can read it when I’m sitting down. Alex Chilton and Chris Bell both have the amazing knack to hide the saddest lines in a song without it taking over the track, so when you realise the words, it hits you that much harder.
