Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

8. Karen DaltonIn My Own Time

My friend Meade, he put this album on for me and I was like ‘Whoa, there is something about this.’ I heard the song ‘Katie Cruel’ and I was so taken aback, it was so visceral. I felt the suffering, the purest pain I’d ever felt, it was wild. It was energetically intoxicating music. Of course, I dig and dig and dig and do research on her. It’s complicated and beautiful and it makes me long for more.
