Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

4. BB KingLive And Well

If you go through all the kings, and in fact if you go through all the guitar players, I love BB King the best. I love this album. He does a song on this album called ‘Just A Little Love’ and I go nuts when I hear it. I’ve seen him many times live, and he’s got the thing that I love, and which I try to infuse in everything I do, especially on stage, which is light and shade. BB King is the master. He goes from a blaring note to almost silence. It’s a thing that he does the best, and very few people can do it. It’s the extremes. He’ll play that big note and then nothing, and you’ll go, what? It leaves you hanging, it’s just electrifying. And this album is great – alive and well at the Hit Factory. I can recommend it.
