Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

This is a record from my childhood again, with really excellent musicianship, that I’ve been thinking about again recently. The Spanish guitar is an incredible instrument: the brightness of it, the roundness of it, is beautiful. I played my original of this until it wore down, and still remember how one song links into the next. I still have it somewhere in storage here, and I’ve been desperate to find it, because I don’t like just calling things up and listening to them online, because so many recordings of things there lack quality. This music didn’t go out to the world without quality, so it’s not fair of me to listen to it without quality. Just because something is delivered to you electronically doesn’t mean the music should be compressed and crushed. I genuinely believe that electronics should be about warmth, humanity, heart and soul.
