Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

12. Ed HarcourtLustre

Ed is a really good friend of mine and somebody I’ve written with, and I’m in the process of writing another album with. He’s one of my husband’s best friends, he’s in a band with him, it’s all very incestuous! But this album is beautiful, he’s a very talented songwriter in his own right, he’s Mercury-nominated and is very well respected, has been involved in lots of big commercial albums and is a brilliant person to write with. This album is really beautiful, it’s got gorgeous melodies, a journey of emotion, I can listen to it any time and love it. My Favourite song is one called ‘Church Of No Religion’. I love all that Ed does, luckily, I think he’s brilliant. It’s hard to write happy songs, harder than writing about heartache, but he can do it. It always feels like a real emotion. If people haven’t heard of him, I would really recommend this album. They won’t regret it.
