Another musician from Alabama, this guy had magic for me. When I first heard ‘In The Midnight Hour’ on the radio in 1965 I dove into New York record stores looking for it. I was with a club band called The Random Concept at the time and we immediately started learning the parts off the record. The next year he released ‘Everybody Needs Somebody To Love’ and the year after came ‘Funky Broadway’ and my musical world was a joyous explosion.
