Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

7. JusticeCross

I fucking love Justice. I remember hearing ‘Cross’ first time around and just being like… what the fuck is this? I am a massive Ed Banger fan, I really loved all their crazy stuff on the label. A lot of it’s very rooted in electro and I am a massive DJ Mehdi fan. Massive Busy P fan, love Sebastian Uffie as well. I was given the pleasure of meeting [Ed Banger founder] Busy P, where I was able to chat about the album. He’s a crazy guy and really lovely, I think he’s got a really good music taste. He understands very well the beauty of what goes into a really good French house track.

I was able to see Justice at Glastonbury, and from speaking to Pedro about being a massive fan, I got a Justice jacket. I remember seeing ‘D.A.N.C.E’ and watching that video and being like, that’s amazing, and other videos the jacket had been in. I remember coming home – because I wasn’t home for a good two months – and this jacket was sitting downstairs in my flat, so it could have easily been taken by someone. I realised then how much of a fan I was, because I’ve never been so gassed to have a jacket before.

That Justice jacket also means a lot because that album, for me, is a turning point. It’s two amazing French men. It’s so mad; we’re so different as people, but when you make good music, everyone can get on board.
