Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

1. Rhythm & Sound, TikimanShowcase

Probably a bit of a strange choice for an album seeing as though it’s a collection of singles, but I’ve listened to these tracks so much that I couldn’t leave it off. Every tune is a stone cold classic and I’ve still no idea how they got that sound after all these years making music myself but it still sounds fresh. And then you’ve got Tikiman’s vocal which never fails to move me, especially on the ‘What A Mistry’ track. What a don! The best time to listen to this stuff was after coming back from a club a bit worse for wear with my mates early morning to help explode the mind in preparation for the next day of excess. At least that’s what we were doing anyway. When me and Appleblim came over to Berlin at the time we first started to get bookings, it was a massive honour for us to meet some of the people making this stuff as we were such big fans. We could hardly believe that!
