13. Jay-ZThe Black Album
I love this album so much. I think I was in Japan and I found The Black Album by Jay-Z and I thought ‘ok, let’s try it.’ There’s something super strong, super powerful, and in a perfectly complicated way. It’s a complicated album with a lot of parts, with a lot of guests. I don’t really understand what happens on it, and I love that because this album puts me in a trip. When I listen to it I’m in another dimension. I really enjoy it, but I don’t understand it at all. I don’t understand the lyrics, because my English is not good enough to understand everything. I don’t even understand who the singer is on different parts. I don’t understand how they did the music; is it a sample, is it home made? So, I love that! It’s totally the opposite of Faith – I’m lost in the jungle with The Black Album, and I like this sensation. I don’t have the skills to make this album at all. I know little delicate chords, little delicate melodies – but this is like a big motor. I’m just impressed. It’s not new now, it’s old, but it’s still very modern, it’s still super fresh, super cool.
