1. Ash Ra TempelStarring Rosi
I actually discovered this record quite recently. I’ve always been a fan of kosmische music, Ash Ra Tempel and all those kinds of bands. It was mostly the earlier Ash Ra Tempel albums that I knew well though, as well as the Manuel Göttsching solo records. I heard this one maybe only around five years ago. I don’t remember how I came across it, but thinking back to where my mind was at musically at that time, I found it really interesting how it straddles this line between this experimental, kosmische music and more rock and pop-oriented sounds. There’s one song that I think sounds a little like the Allman Brothers, who I don’t necessarily even like that much, but it’s always interesting to me when artists blur those lines and bridge the gap between experimental music and pop music. That’s something I kind of tried to do in the past with some of my own music but I’m not sure if it’s that obvious.
