2. Pink FloydDark Side of The Moon
My mum was into soul; Diana Ross, The Supremes, George McCrae. More dance-y music. But my dad was into more alternative music. And he was only ever allowed to play his music on a Sunday. So on a Sunday we used to listen to a lot of Pink Floyd and David Bowie. I couldn’t decide between Aladdin Sane by David Bowie and Dark Side of The Moon.
I’ve gone for Pink Floyd because it was just different. And you never really heard Floyd much on the radio so it was really alternative and different, and a little bit psychedelic. It was my dad’s style of music so that’s why I like dance, I like rock, I’ve got so many influences from my parents.
And I also like the other Pink Floyd album The Wall, because my mate was one of the kids in the video singing; ‘Teacher! Leave those kids alone!’
So that whole era was quite cool to me but I think Dark Side of The Moon was my favourite. My dad’s not around any more, and I’ve still got it on vinyl, so every time I look at it I always think of him. Brings back loads of memories."
