Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

1. Michael JacksonThriller

It was Christmas and I was about nine or 10-years-old. I was at my nan’s and the video was coming out and I begged her to let me stay up and watch it. She said no, but my sister managed to let me watch, and I was shitting myself after seeing it. It was bare scary. I didn’t listen to the whole album until I got to my teens, but by then, I already knew he was a genius. I feel like we took him for granted, because he was such an amazing guy and musician. The funny thing is I listened to Thriller most when I was in jail and I was able to take the whole album in. Its such a sick album.
