Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

11. Barry WhiteThe Collection

When I got to a certain age, I started appreciating certain music more. I’d heard it from when I was young, but I didn’t think too much of it. Once I took time to actually listen to it, I realised that it is a crazy album. There are some songs on it where there isn’t even any singing, its just the instrumental playing and its so cold. It’s the power of being able to find stuff you used to listen to so easily now, rather than back in the day when you heard it and that was it; you couldn’t find it anymore. I’m never disappointed by the older stuff I listen to now. I’m actively going back to that era now, and it brings back so many memories. Barry White was the ladies’ singer; the hair, the beard, the voice. He’s the boss!
