Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

3. The Louvin BrothersSatan Is Real

Oh, it’s amazing, it’s fantastic. Actually for all of my touring in the last year we had this as the house music so we listened to it every night and I’ve listened to it probably a thousand times on my own. I listen to it driving around. I just think that the Louvin Brothers were such an incredible outfit as they had really incredible vocal skill and harmonising skill. Their harmonies are so close. Particularly Ira Louvin has such a wild, piercing tenor and the songs are really quite dark but they’re packaged in this very upbeat and accessible way and I think that’s really fascinating.
