Look into the Shadows: Peter Murphy’s Favourite Albums

Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

Thrilling! This album is pure sonic violence – all amps full on 10! It’s not just music it’s a primal force. Iggy’s voice is like a howl that cuts through you. It’s visceral. And those guitars – they sound like they’re barely holding together, like they might fall apart at any second. But that’s the beauty of it. There’s something alive in that messiness, that rock could be something that wasn’t always pretty. It could be ugly, dissonant, uncomfortable. There was this incredible grime to it, and I loved that.
