Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

6. Medulla Nocte – ‘Nothing For Second’ fromFrom One Extreme To The Other

JR: They were actually quite a shit band to be honest, but I was really young when I saw them and they changed a lot for me. I remember thinking ‘Fuck, I want to be in a band like that.’ They just had a vibe that I really wanted to be a part of, even though the music wasn’t fantastic. Live, they weren’t shit, they were very cerebral, and they had a fucking sick drummer called Jammer, this massive guy. He was huge. We’re talking fucking huge. His arms looked like they were inside his body, but he played drums like a motherfucker. It was almost like you went just to see Jammer play. The first time I ever saw them was because I had a bunch of friends who were really into Raging Speedhorn. We went to see them, and Medulla Nocte were supporting. This track just gives me a warm feeling inside when I hear it, because it harks me back to that period. For me that’s what music is about.
