9. LowHey What
AC: I heard it when we were recording the first Persher record and I was just completely blown away. It was a complete ‘what the fuck?’ for me. There was the totally amazing use of distortion in super interesting ways. Again, that feeling of ‘is it a guitar? Is it a synth? Is it something completely else?’ And the songwriting is amazing. It’s completely ridiculous. It really made me feel something! As you get older you’re exposed to more stuff, and sometimes you think that [a song] is something you would have had an emotional response to when you were younger. But this just knocked me for six. I can’t pick a favourite track, because structurally the way the album flows is amazing. Also, I think it’s really cool when a band that’s been going for a really long time are just constantly trying to push against people’s expectations. Because old Low and new Low are just completely different. I guess there probably won’t be another Low album, which is really very sad. But this is a perfect record.
