10. Original Broadway Cast RecordingHair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical

Whatever you think about Hair the musical, it has everything. It’s about freedom and empowerment. So, I’m a little kid, I’m five, six dancing around singing about freedom and also songs about masturbation where I’m asking, “what does Sodom mean? What does cunnilingus mean?” And things like that, which is really like, “oh, sex is funny! it can be fun too!” And then really emotional songs like ‘Easy To Be Hard’ with “How can people be so heartless?” It gave a wide range for a child to express themselves in all these forms of freedom and emotion and interplay, like‘My Conviction’, which is more role playing and things like that. It talked about a lot about liberalism and conservativism but I had no visual references for that. And I hadn’t read the screenplay, which is a non-screen play, it’s just a happening where everybody’s naked on stage by the end. So, it was just like this really great, great music to me.
