Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

10. MelvinsLysol

I had to have a Melvins record on this list, and for me it has to be Lysol. It was just a brilliant record that turned me on to Flipper, and made me discover that Alice Cooper had actually made some amazing music. Without the Melvins I wouldn’t have been aware of how great the early Alice Cooper band was. I think my musical heritage is pretty limited and I couldn’t cover a song to save my life, so it is really interesting to hear a band that is the opposite to that and the song they are playing I am convinced is their own even though it is a cover of someone else.
