Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

6. The BlankketPegatively Nositive

It’s a record made by Steve Kado, who’s one of my best friends, and I sing on it a little bit. It’s got two songs on it, ‘Failure Is Our Game’ and ‘Independence Is No Solution’ that are very meaningful to me. I used to cover ‘Independence Is No Solution’. I’ve covered a few of Steve’s songs because he has successfully identified in his mind, and mine, what makes Beat Happening a punk act, and has turned this into an entire art practice, both through his band and his lecturing and talking – he has a radio show about talking. Steve is just a huge influence on my life in general. I’ve put this here mostly because people should listen to this record.
