Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

The seminal track for me was Massive Attack’s remix of ‘Mustt Mustt’. They made it in a way that was club literate. The club sound was sonically exciting to hear, but also being able to hear Qawwali in that context was very special. I’ve always been drawn to music that had a minimalistic sonics and this track from Massive Attack was a stand-out. Qawwali is a devotional genre that has a lot of power and mysticism within it and every aspect of this record and the genre comes from an authentic place.
