Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

12. DJ KrushKiseki

There’s something nostalgic about this album. As a child I was into a lot of science-fiction, which happened to be based in Japan. I fell in love with Japan the first time I visited the country. I learned to read and write Hiragana and Katakana in one day while I was there. When I was travelling around in Tokyo this actually helped me understand the language and culture a lot more. I don’t understand it but I love the sound of Japanese rap, and DJ Krush is one of those artists who comes up with very innovative beats and composition.
