12. Sharon Van EttenRemind Me Tomorrow

We toured with Sharon Van Etten when she released this album. We were opening for her in the US, back in 2019, just before COVID. I got to see Sharon play the set every night for four or five weeks and everything about that time blew me away; seeing her as a performer, the songs and her energy on stage. It was the first time she decided not to play the guitar in the band, as well. She was in full frontwoman mode. That was really cool. We became good friends with all the people in her band and she’s somebody we look up to.
I feel like lots of people had an idea of what Sharon was. Then, this album came out and people were like, ‘Oh, what the fuck?’ I thought that was so cool. I feel like maybe she’d had an idea of what she was and then was like, ‘Actually, I’m going to keep changing, keep evolving.’ She’s a really important artist and is such an amazing songwriter and has written so many really good songs. My favourite song from this album is ‘Hands’ and, of course, ‘Seventeen’. If you ever get to see ‘Hands’ live, it changes your life. Then there’s ‘Every Time The Sun Comes Up’ and ‘Our Love’ from Are We There which feels different. Her songs are totally timeless.
