Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

11. Kae TempestThe Line Is A Curve

I love this record, my favourite song off it is ‘More Pressure.’ I’m obsessed with that song. I’ve listened to that song a lot. Kae is an artist where I love to read the books and listen to the albums. I first came across Kae seeing him perform at an event and I’d never seen anything like it. That was before I heard any of the records. I don’t think I’d heard his spoken world work with the music before that. I remember at that show, you could feel in the room that the hairs were standing on everyone’s skin. That was an incredible experience. What I love about the work is, again, that he builds a whole world. You listen to the album, you can read the book and you really can feel it. You’re following them on his journey, but also the message that Kae’s always writing about and speaking about is always so vital. Kae’s somebody who has something to say, and it really connects with a lot of people. The book that came out around a similar time On Connection is great too. It’s about creativity and the way that Kae does things. It’s full of really interesting insights.
