Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

‘Who Loves The Sun’ is a brilliant song. It’s a beautiful, joyous, gorgeous song outwardly but then there’s the gut punch of Lou telling you he hates the sun. It’s misery and heartache. I didn’t get introduced to this album until about 15 years ago. We all grew up with Transformer, Berlin and The Velvet Underground & Nico, but a friend introduced me to this while we were doing a project together. I didn’t know it well apart from ‘Sweet Jane’. Some of the beautiful tracks on there like ‘Oh! Sweet Nuthin”, are beautiful. I love that album and it was a lovely discovery.

Selected in other Baker’s Dozens: Baxter Dury, Eleanor Friedberger, Pixies, Neil Gaiman, Tom Tom Club
